LET'S SCRAP SKETCH 1-30-13

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

With everything that has been going on lately, I just have not had the time to blog :-(  It really makes me sad that there is not enough hours in a day.  So the next few posts will be an some catching up on Let's Scrap sketches that I made, but not yet blogged about :-)

The sketch 1-30-13 over at Let's Scrap was designed by the talented Jennifer Russell.  The best thing about this sketch is the fact that there is space for SOOOO many pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had so many pictures from Christmas Eve of our little one, that the sketch was just perfect.  I could print out different pictures from that night and have them all in one layout :-)

All of the paper and embellishments that I used were from Kaisercraft, the Twig&Berry Collection.

I really enjoyed working with this sketch!

LET'S SCRAP DESIGN TEAM CHALLENGE #154

Back in January it was my turn to do a Design Team challenge over at Let's Scrap.  Things have been so hectic, I never got round to blogging it.  Well here was the challenge and the layout I made.

I was so excited about the challenge.  I had so many ideas, the perfect pictures, brand new papers, but when I sat down to do the challenge, the creative juices and everything that goes along with it, went out the window..........................

But in the end I came up with a layout, which was based on the following sketch.

I really adore these pictures of our little boy and really wanted to make something special of his first Christmas.  But in the end I decided to rather keep it simple, as less is more.

The challenge was to make a layout that HAD to be Christmas layout with the following rules and criteria:
  • Use some sort of distressing technique, whether it is sanding, inking or any other distressing technique you know of.  I used sanding on my photos and papers.
  • In terms of paper"
    • you had to use 2 different coloured cardstock; and
    • 5 different pieces of pattern paper.
  • You had to use at least one sticker, die-cut or rub-on.
  • And lastly, a small strip of paper.  I am not really sure how to describe this, but it is that strip of paper that some of the suppliers add at the bottom of the pages.  One I know that does this is Kaisercraft (I cannot think of other right off the top of my head).  You will see that I used it at the bottom of my layout, it is the strip of paper with the stamps on.  I do realise that not everyone might have these, so if you don't have one, you are allowed to use a border sticker or even a ribbon.
I must admit, that in the end, I really enjoyed making this layout and it really turned out lovely!

Hope you enjoyed it and Happy Scrappin'

We have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge - Leave a paper Trail - http://www.leaveapapertrail.com/zencart/

A little about our sponsor this week
I have been paper crafting for over 13 years now and really feel that it is an invaluable service to my family and generations to come.  I love the creative outlet it provides me and seeing the pages come to life gives me great satisfaction.  You may ask “Why the name The Paper Trail?”  Well, for me, scrapbooking is all about leaving a paper trail of you for your family and future generations to come.  Webster’s dictionary defines paper trail as: documents from which a person's actions may be traced.  Doesn’t that just sum up exactly what we do when we create a scrapbook page?  We leave a trail of us – what we have done, who we are, etc.
I have created this store so that you have options available to help you create the best trail that you can.

Now to win this in store voucher, simple link up your project for this challenge, and remember to have fun!!!

In order to take part in this awesome challenge and win this wonderful prize, here is what you have to do:
Well ladies, you only have until noon (Central Time) Thursday, March 14th to link up your project.  So that gives you about 2 days, 7 hours and 30 minutes to go!!!!!!  So get those projects finished and linked :-)

DESIGN TEAM CALL: NUTS ABOUT SKETCHES (MARCH - AUGUST 2013)

A while back Shawn Eerie from Nuts About Sketches post a sketch team call for the period March to August 2013.

She was looking for dependable scrappers who are able to create at least 2 layouts a month, based on sketches that she provides.  There are single and double page sketches, for which you can do only the one side if you wish to.

In order to apply, you had to choose one of the following sketches and submit a layout.

I really loved both of these sketches, but in the end I had to pick one and decided on the second sketch (the one of the right hand side).

Here is my take on the sketch.

The papers and embellishments are all from Kaisercraft!  I unfortunately did not make the DT, but I really loved using the sketch and the way the layout turned out.
